A jet engine with no moving parts?

by | Mar 11, 2024 | Innovation

Recently, Wave Engine Corp. successfully tested a jet engine that requires no moving parts. The UAV flight test included self-powered take-off, climb-cruise, and landing.

Wave Engine Corp. develop and produce next-generation wave engine propulsion systems. Reimagining engine technology, the design leverages waves to produce simplified jet engines. Wave engines, aka. pulsejet engines, utilise pressure waves to generate thrust for high-speed flight. Wave Engine Corp. highlights several benefits, including affordability, mid-air restart capability, and versatility in fuel options, including sustainable alternatives like bioethanol-based E85.

Although pulsejet engines designs are not new, this successful test has attracted attention with its potential for cost-effective and scalable technology.

Daanish Maqbool, CEO, Wave Engine said:

“We continue to push the performance and flight envelope […] We have worked for years to harness the power of sound and fire, and we believe it is going to change the industry.”
