Earlier this month, Airbus reported record annual jet orders in 2023 marking a “landmark year for Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft business with deliveries on the upper end of target.” Delivering more aircraft and securing more orders than US-based Boeing, Airbus secured the top manufacturing spot for a fifth consecutive year.
Airbus delivered 735 commercial aircraft to 87 customers around the world in 2023 and the Commercial Aircraft business registered 2,319 gross new orders (2,094 net), with the year end backlog standing at 8,598 aircraft.
Guillaume Faury, CEO, Airbus said:
“We originally anticipated aviation to recover sometime in the 2023-2025 timeframe, but what we saw in 2023 was, alongside the single-aisle market, widebody return much sooner than expected, and with vigour.”
This year also marks the biggest for A320s and A350s as well as seven new customers for the A350-1000.
Airbus full aircraft fleet deliveries for 2023
Boeing’s full year delivery total sits at 528 and it booked 1,314 net new orders after allowing for cancellations. The company is set to release detailed fourth-quarter financial results on 31 January but shared its numbers on major program deliveries as below.

With Boeing struggling with the safety concerns around its 737 Max line of airliners, some are reporting that “in the long-running duel between the two aviation rivals, Airbus has pulled far ahead.”
